Open heaven

 OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS

DATE: FRIDAY 3RD OF FEBRUARY, 2023

THEME: BE FAITHFUL

MEMORISE: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38

READ: Proverbs 3:9-10

[9]Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

[10]So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

MESSAGE:

Your offering is an act of  worship: it is a way of showing gratitude to God for His provision. Many young people are guilty of unfaithfulness in giving to God. They hide under the statement "God will understand". He understands principles and one of the principles of receiving blessings from Him is faithfulness in giving to Him.

For every promise of God to His children, there are conditions to be fulfilled. For instance, God blessed the children of Israel in Deuteronomy but then, the blessings were hinged on their obedience to Him. Thus, if you are faithful in the giving of your offering to God, no matter how little, He will supply all your needs and you will never lack anything. In fact, He will give you more than you gave.

As my children, I implore you to distance yourself from false teachings against faithfulness in payment of tithes and giving of offerings. Know that God rewards those who are faithful to Him.

PRAYER POINT

Father, forgive me if i have ever robbed you in Jesus' name.

HYMN 18 - WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

1. When we walk with the Lord,

In the light of His word,

What a glory He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will

He abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and obey.

CHORUS

Trust and obey!

For there's no other way

To be happy in Jesus,

But to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise,

Not a cloud in the skies,

But His smile quickly drives it away;

Not a doubt nor a fear,

Not a sigh nor a tear,

Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear,

Not a sorrow we share

But our toil He doth richly repay;

Not a grief nor a loss,

Not a frown nor a cross,

But is blest if we trust and obey

4. But we never can prove

The delights of His love,

Until all on the altar we lay,

For the favour He shows

And the joy He bestows

Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet

We will sit at His feet,

Or we'll walk by His side in the way,

What He says we will do,

Where He sends we will go,

Never fear, only trust and obey.

Can Yeast Go Bad – How Long Is Yeast Good For & How To Store Yeast After Opening?

Can Yeast Go Bad?: If you are someone who loves baking then you must have worked with yeast at some point in your baking goods. Are you wondering whether your yeast will turn your dishes fluffy and soft? Then you have landed on the right place as we have listed everything on can yeast go bad, how long does yeast last, and tips to tell if yeast is bad or not in the later sections. There are different types of yeast and each one has a different shelf life. Read more to know about the shelf life of each variety, storage practices, fun facts to know about yeast, etc. here

Can Yeast Go Bad

Can Yeast Go Bad?

Yes, Yeast does go bad. However, the shelf life of yeast depends on the variety namely dry or active yeast. Dry yeast will stay longer compared to fresh yeast. The difference between dry and fresh yeast is that dry yeast comes in granules whereas fresh yeast comes in blocks. It’s up to you whether to choose dry yeast or fresh yeast as per your preference.

You can look at the best by date on the label to know the expiry date of the product But this is not that product will go bad after this but will lose the leavening power and stays less productive.

How To Tell If Yeast Is Still Potent?

If your yeast has been in storage for more than recommended amount of time better see the signs of spoilage to understand if yours is good or not. You can perform a proofing or potency test to decide if yours is still good. This is an effective method to check if the yeast you are going to use is good or not. All you have to do is mix a tablespoon of sugar with 1/4 ounce of water and stir the solution. Let the solution sit for 5-10 minutes. If you notice any bubbles in the solution it is a clear sign that your Dry or Fresh Yeast is good. If not it’s time for it to go.

The other procedure by which you can decide if your Yeast is safe to use or not is by using your Senses. Look at it and if you notice any change in color it is probably done for. Also, check for dryness and if there is no moisture inside it is a sign that the product has lost its moisture and needs to be tossed off. If all the above went well have a quick sniff and notice any unpleasant odor it’s time for it to go.

How To Proof Dry Active Yeast?

The step-by-step process to proof dry active yeast is mentioned below. They are along the lines

  • Pour half cup of warm water into a bowl.
  • And then mix a tablespoon of sugar with 1/4 ounce of yeast and stir the solution.
  • Allow the bowl to sit for about 5-10 minutes.
  • If you notice bubbles in the bowl it is good to use and if no bubbles are found let it go.

How To Proof Cake Yeast?

Proofing Cake Yeast is pretty much simple. The process looks as such

  • Pour 1/2 cup of warm liquid into the bowl and stir it with 1 tablespoon of sugar.
  • Crumble cake yeast with a fork and then mix it into the solution and stir.
  • Allow the bowl to sit for 10 minutes.
  • If the yeast forms foams vigorously you can use your Cake Yeast as it is good or else throw it away.

How Long Does Yeast Last?

The Shelf Life of Yeast depends on the variety you are having be it dry yeast or fresh yeast. In general, dry yeast has a longer shelf compared to fresh yeast. Dry yeast shelf life will be between 1-2 years. However, this doesn’t mean the product will go bad after that it’s just that the product begins to deteriorate. The baked goods which you make with the old yeast will turn flat after the indicated period. After the packet is opened make sure to close it tightly and store it in the refrigerator.

When it comes to fresh yeast it stays potent for only three weeks to a month after production. Certain procedures like freezing will extend the shelf life to an extent and you can enjoy the product. If not stored properly the product will start to degrade at a faster rate. Look at the following table to understand how long does yeast last.

Yeast TypeLifespan
PantryRefrigeratorFreezer
Unopened dry yeastBest-by date + 2 to 4 monthsN/AN/A
Opened dry yeastNot recommended2 to 3 monthsUp to 6 months

How To Store Yeast?

Storage technique will depend on the variety you are dealing with such as dry or fresh yeast. They are along the lines

Keep Opened Dry Yeast in the Freezer: Dry yeast stays fine at room temperature. However, if the seal is broken the product will start to deteriorate and loses its leavening power. The best place to keep the opened dry yeast is in the refrigerator. Storing in cool temperatures will prevent it from becoming worse. Freezing can be a great option to use for more time.

Store Fresh Yeast in the Refrigerator: Fresh Yeast needs to be stored in the Refrigerator as it will increase the shelf life. To extend its shelf life you can keep it in the Fridge or even in the Freezer.

Seal It Tightly: No matter the type of yeast you are having seal it tightly. Sealing dry yeast will prevent moisture from entering and damaging the dry yeast quickly. Fresh yeast will instead become dry if not sealed properly.

Known as the “king of fruits,” mangoes are an excellent source of potassium, folate, fiber, and vitamins A, C, B6, E, and K. They’re also rich in numerous plant polyphenols that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties (27Trusted Source).

In particular, mangoes are high in mangiferin, a potent antioxidant. Studies have shown it may protect the body from chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and certain forms of cancer (28Trusted Source29Trusted Source30Trusted Source).

What’s more, mangoes contain fiber, which helps support regular bowel movements and aids digestive health (31Trusted Source).

Unlike most other fruits, avocados are high in healthy fats and low in natural sugars.

They’re mostly made of oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat linked to better heart health. They also contain high amounts of potassium, fiber, vitamin B6, folate, vitamins E and K, and two carotenoids known as lutein and zeaxanthin, which support eye health (32Trusted Source33Trusted Source34Trusted Source).

In fact, a high quality 2020 study found a significant decrease in cholesterol levels and an increase in blood lutein levels among participants who consumed an avocado per day for 5 weeks (35Trusted Source).

When compared by weight, avocados are higher in calories than most other fruits. However, studies have linked them to better weight management. Researchers have proposed that this is because their high fat and fiber contents promote fullness (33Trusted Source36Trusted Source37Trusted Source).
